Camp GOTR 2024 Details

Registration for Camp GOTR/Camp Brooke 2024 is now open!

This year's theme is "Girls Have Heart". Throughout the week, girls will explore what makes a good friend and how to be a good friend to others. Girls will build, create, write, discuss, connect, and laugh all while participating in games and activities that will leave them feeling confident and appreciated by their teammates.

Session 1: July 22 - July 26, 2024 | 9 am - 4 pm daily| Christmount Christian Assembly in Black Mountain

This is the fourth year GOTR WNC has offered Camp GOTR and it is made possible through our partnership with Christmount Christian assembly and Camp Brooke. Camp Brooke is named after Brooke Schneitman, a former Christmount Summer Staff member and beloved camp counselor for Christmount's Middle-School Girls Camp. After her passing in 2009, Christmount honored her by renaming their Middle School Girls Camp to Camp Brooke in 2010. In 2020, Christmount reimagined Camp Brooke through a collaborative partnership with Girls on the Run WNC to offer Camp GOTR / Camp Brooke.

Each morning campers will start their day with GOTR curriclum and activites and each afternoon they will experience traditional summer camp activities.

Session 2: July 29 - August 2, 2024 | 8 am - Noon daily | Mills River Park

This is our first summer parterning with Mills River Parks & Recreation to bring Camp GOTR to Henderson County.

Ma fille n’est pas une grande coureuse. Est-ce que ce programme lui conviendra? OU Ma fille est déjà une coureuse expérimentée. Est-ce que ce programme lui conviendra?

My girl isn't a big runner; is this program for her? OR My girl is already a skilled runner. Is this program for her?

Yes! We are much more than a running program, and every participant can benefit from the experience of building confidence through accomplishment while participating in our rich, curriculum-based, age-appropriate, interactive lessons. Expect lots of games, talking, laughing and processing in addition to running at each practice. And know that when we say run, we mean run, walk, skip, roll or push, just as long as you are moving foward!

What does the registration fee include?

The camp registration fee includes GOTR t-shirt, water bottle, 5K finisher medal, all snacks, and intentional lessons delivered by trained coaches. There are ample scholarships available and no girl is turned away from participating in the program due to family finances. The registration page has a self-reporting financial aid section and a pay-what-you-can option. Clothing and gear assistance is also available for participants.

We can't afford the program registration fee, but our child would love to participate. How does the scholarship program work?

Don't let cost stop you from participating! We are committed to making Girls on the Run accessible to all who want to particpate! Thanks to generous donors and community supporters, program scholarships are available to any family who needs it, and we can also provide appropriate running shoes and attire if necessary. The online registration form will walk you through a few questions to find the fee that is right for your family based on a sliding scale. We also realize that the financial reality for many families can change quickly, if there is a need for scholarship that isn't reflected through the sliding scale application, please reach out to Girls on the Run WNC and we can talk more. No girl is turned away from participating due to family finances.

Is there a way for me to sponsor a girl?

Yes! As a mission-driven 501(c)3, Girls on the Run relies on generous donors in order to provide more than $30,000 in program scholarships for families in need. Click here to sponsor a girl.

Where is Camp GOTR hosted?

Session 1 is hosted by Christmount Christian Assembly in Black Mountain in partnership with Camp Brooke.

Session 2 is hosted by Mills River Parks & Recreation at Mills River Park.

My GOTR Girl is older than a 5th grader, is there a camp program for older girls?

At this time we only offer Camp GOTR for grades rising 3 -5. If your girl wants to be involved with Girls on the Run, we suggest supporting a Heart & Sole season at her school or a community site. Click here for more information on Heart & Sole.
